Driver loses control, lands in Cancun Hotel Zone mangrove

Cancun, Q.R. — Three people were left with injuries, one seriously, after the driver of a vehicle lost control and rolled in mangrove. The accident happened during the first weekend of the New Year at Kilometer 23 of the Cancun Hotel Zone.

Traffic agents responded to the emergency situation of the Quintana Roo-plated Aveo car, securing the area while Cancun firemen and paramedics dealt with the accident.

Reports say the car was traveling near Puente Nizuc when the driver lost control and landed in a mangrove area. Firemen were left with the task of freeing at least one trapped male passenger who reportedly lost an arm in the accident.

Elements of the National Guard’s Directorate of Highway Safety and Facilities also arrived to take charge of the accident since it happened on federal highway. The injured were taken to the Jesús Kumate Rodríguez General Hospital for medical attention.
