Cancun, Q.R. – Dozens of Benito |Juarez police officers have been let go from their positions for failing a Control and Confidence exam.
The Municipal Secretariat of Public Security and Traffic (Smspyt) began notifying police officers more than a week ago of their dismissal from the force.
In March, 100 officers took the mandatory Control and Confidence exam, of which 47 failed for a second time.
Others that did not pass the exam on their first try will be given a second chance. However, if the officers who did not pass do not schedule to rewrite the test, they will also be discharged.
The police corporation is guided by the General Law of the National System which follows the Professional Career Service Regulation as well as guidelines from the Career Service of the Municipality of Benito Juarez.
The examinations are required by the National Public Security System which promotes human rights, competencies of the police function and lessons on joint criminal investigation, among other areas.
