Dolphin found drowned in illegal Holbox fishing net

Holbox, Q.R. — A dolphin has been buried along a Holbox beach after it was found by island residents Thursday.

The dolphin allegedly died by drowning in illegal fishing nets in the Yalahau lagoon, despite the fact that fishing in the lagoon is prohibited. Authorities noted that the body of the dolphin had visible traces of net marks.

It was found approximately 400 meters from the island.
