Cancun, Q.R. — The director of the newly installed Mobility Institute for the state says that as of January, taxi prices will increase for Cancun, Playa del Carmen and several other municipalities.
Director of the Mobility Institute, Jorge Pérez Pérez, confirmed that taxi service rates will increase in busy places such as Cancún and Playa del Carmen as well in other municipalities. While he did not specify the actual amount, he did say they anticipate an increase of between 10 and 20 percent and not the proposed 45 percent.
He explained that before the end of the year, they will set the new rates so that the increase benefits the unions but remains within reason for those who use the taxi services.
The new rates are expected to go into effect sometime in January 2019.
