Cozumel, Q.R. — With questionable weather in Atlantic waters, cruise ships have been scrambling to accommodate Mother Nature.
This past week, 17 ships were scheduled to dock at the island of Cozumel, however two of the larger ships canceled due to bad weather conditions. Both Disney Fantasy and the Norwegian Scape did not land as planned.
However, several other cruise ships have been diverted to the island of Cozumel where they seek refuge from hurricanes Irma and Jose. On Wednesday night, five cruise ships docked at Cozumel for the night, a record for the island.
Unscheduled ships began arriving Tuesday that included Allure of the Seas, Carnival Magic and Carnival Splendor that showed up Tuesday, while Wednesday unscheduled arrivals included Carnival Glory and Carnival Vista, where they spent the night.
Yesterday, Oasis of the Seas and MSC Opera landed at Cozumel where they will remain for three days. Today, Norwegian Scape and MSC Divina are scheduled to dock and remain until Sunday.
