Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Cristina Torres Gómez, mayor of the municipality of Solidaridad, registered her intention to run again for mayor.
The mayor, who was elected in 2017 to head the municipality, has registered herself to run again for mayor of Playa del Carmen. The registration was made official before the Municipal Council of the Electoral Institute of Quintana Roo (Ieqroo) as a candidate of the coalition Por Quintana Roo al Frente.
Accompanied by other members along with representatives of the National Action Party (PAN), the Democratic Revolution Party (PRD) and Movimiento Ciudadano (MC), in addition to a crowd of supporters, Torres Gómez submitted her registration to the electoral authority.
She later made a public statement, clarifying that the campaign has not yet started and that they expect a fair, clean election to be held.
“I hope that the proposals who win are Solidaridad,” she said. The mayor promised that they will continue and work hard.
In addition to Cristina Torres, the nominee for syndic, Orlando Muñoz Gómez and candidates for aldermen, Fabiola Ballesteros Xicotencatl (PAN), Gustavo García Utrera (PAN), Yuri Burgos Pech (PRD), Citli Vera Rodríguez (MC), Alejandra were registered.
Also registered include Cárdenas Nájera (PRD), Annuar López Martínez (PAN), Karen Díaz Hernández (PAN), Tomás Flores Martínez (PRD) and Maribel Morales Orosco (PRD).
