Cozumel takes hit as cruise ships cancel due to Nate

Cozumel, Q.R. — Cozumel will likely feel a hit this week as seven scheduled cruise ships change route due to Nate.

Due to Hurricane Nate, several cruise ships were forced to change routes this past week as the storm made its way across Caribbean waters, causing cruise ships to eliminate Cozumel from its itinerary.

The director general of the Port Administration of Quintana Roo reported that of the 25 cruises ships scheduled to arrive in Cozumel between October 2 to 8, only 18 will dock. While two ships will make port Saturday, five ships canceled Friday including Oasis of the Seas, Liberty of the Seas, Carnival Splendor, MSC Opera and Carnival Breeze.

Today, only Carnival Triumph and Carnival Sensation will land the island.
