Cozumel says new Cancun Terminal 4 beneficial to all

Cozumel, Q.R. — The opening of new Terminal 4 of the Cancun International Airport (AIC) will bring greater connectivity to the state, which benefits all municipalities, said Isela Valenzuela Jiménez of the Hotel Association of Cozumel, adding that Cancun is already an international benchmark.

Valenzuela Jiménez says that the new modern terminal will allow better service to the tourist, which brings economic benefits to all the municipalities of the state.

“Having a modern infrastructure for all tourism services helps and endorses the quality of tourism we have in Quintana Roo.”

She explained that as a destination, Cozumel has a limited airport, but that having a wider connectivity from Cancun, tourism moves both by land and sea. Although she says they do not have exact statistics, “it would be worth knowing how many visitors have to come to Cozumel from the AIC.”

Valenzuela Jiménez added that these days, the island is quiet since they have not hosted a sporting event this month, but noted that the winter season is already on the doorstep.

“We are closing with 43 percent occupancy because we did not have sporting events this month, but this drives us to strengthen the numbers, reinforcing the presence of Cozumel. I’m going to promote diving, we’ll create a great presence because that’s what is needed. ”

She adds that the region has been promoting the island since August, and for this reason, they are anticipating a busy quarter. It is the private initiative that is responsible for carrying the promotion, she says, apart from what the trust can do.

Hoteliers promote the tourist destination to reinforce the marketing plan, they cannot be stopped by the effects of circumstances worldwide, hence the importance of being present in all tourist forums.

Cozumel is gearing up to host the annual Ironman competition being held November 26, 2017, where thousands head to the island.
