Cozumel, Q.R. — A warning call about a grenade outside the police base in Cozumel had members scrambling to evacuate the building.
Late Friday night, police received a warning phone call of an alleged grenade outside their facilities. The warning was received around 10:30 p.m. at the Operations Base of the State Police in Cozumel which triggered an evacuation of the building.
The building and streets were cleared while the Mexican Army arrived to inspect. Members of the Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena) also arrived, and at around 11:00 p.m., were reported to have found an undetonated grenade outside the base.
There were no reports on who made the warning call or why. There were also no report of injuries.
