Cozumel man walks away from rollover

Cozumel, Q.R. — A Cozumel driver was able to walk away from his vehicle after overturning it near Chankanaab Park on the southern coastal highway of the island. The accident was attended to by local firemen around 2:00 p.m. after the driver, 36-year-old Darwin de Jesús P., managed to roll it into the ditch.

According to reports, the vehicle was driving north to south when the driver swerved to avoid hitting a wild bore. He lost control of his small pickup, driving into the shoulder brush where he came to a rest on his roof.

Authorities arrived at the scene, including the fire department, who came to free the man from inside his truck, however, he had already managed to get out by the time they arrived. He was assessed on site by paramedics who attend to his few superficial wounds. Speed is said to have played a likely role in the overturning of the truck.
