Counterfeit identification outfit found operating in Playa del Carmen

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Ministerial Police say they have found an out-of-state group offering fake identification online.

The finding came after Ministerial Police made a house search in Playa del Carmen Saturday night. The group were reportedly from the state of Guerrero and operating a counterfeit identification outfit through the Internet.

Inside the Coliso home on 60th Street, police found a room filled with counterfeit-making materials including computer equipment and specific machines for producing counterfeit driver’s licenses, birth certificates and other forms of identification from local and federal agencies.

According to the report, the operation had been up and running for several weeks.

There were no confirmed arrests, however, all the computers, machines and material were seized and handed over to the General Attorney of the State.
