Construction of a new CostaMed hospital announced for Puerto Morelos

Puerto Morelos, Q. R. — The construction of a new private hospital has been announced for the town of Puerto Morelos.

The announcement came from city mayor Laura Fernandez Piña who said that the new facility will be a CostaMed hospital offering high quality medical services for the citizens and tourists.

Fernandez Piña explained that during the first stages of the signing of an agreement between city council and CostaMed, the private company has agreed to provide free ambulance service to the residents of the municipality.

She added that at the beginning of the administration was the opening of two medical clinics, one in Leona Vicario and the other in the Zetina Gasca colony.

“Nothing compares to the service provided by a hospital, such as having an operating room on hand, having all those devices for studies, in short, a complete service to provide medical care to families, our children, our grandchildren, to ourselves,” said Laura Fernández.

The new CostaMed hospital will be built on a plot of land consisting of about 2,500 square meters one block away from the federal highway.

Laura Fernández said that the new facility will also promote medical tourism. “We are located in a strategic place not only in the local geography, but also internationally, 15 minutes from the Cancun International Airport.”

She explained that a new market niche will open to tourists with high purchasing power which will create longer stays in the destination. “Thanks to the CostaMed Group also for signing this agreement with us in which it provides benefits to the workers of the municipality of Puerto Morelos and to all residents, and improves our quality of life,” she added.

Ricardo de Jesus Segovia, president of the CostaMed Group, said that the company has divided into stages the provision of medical services in Puerto Morelos. The first of which is the implementation of the ambulance service free of charge to municipal residents and city hall workers in case of an emergency, which is already operating.

Later, in three or four months, a primary care unit will be opened which will function while the hospital is being built, which will be completed in approximately two years.
