Cold Front 15 forecast to enter Mexico today

Over the next few hours the entrance of the Cold Front Number 15 will arrive in the northeast of Mexico, keeping temperatures cool, but only for a few days with the state of Quintana Roo forecast to rebound to hot days by early next week.

In the meantime, the low temperatures will remain during the morning and the night in the greater part of the Mexican Republic. Today it is expected that Cold Front Number 15 will enter Mexico through the northeast of national territory and that its air mass will cover the north, northeast, center and east of country.

The National Meteorological Service (SMN) reports the entry of the front will cause frost and low temperatures to continue in these regions, mainly during the morning and the night.

Temperatures lower than -5 degrees Celsius are estimated in mountain ranges of Chihuahua, Durango, Zacatecas, San Luis Potosi, Hidalgo, Puebla, Tlaxcala and Mexico state. Temperatures of zero to -5 degrees Celsius in mountainous sites of Coahuila, Aguascalientes, Jalisco, Michoacán, Guanajuato, Querétaro, Veracruz and Oaxaca, and from zero to 5 degrees Celsius in mountain areas of Baja California, Sonora, Nuevo León, Tamaulipas, Morelos and Mexico City.

Wind from the north is forecast with gusts exceeding 60 kilometers per hour (km / h) in the Isthmus and the Gulf of Tehuantepec.

Showers are anticipated for the regions of Veracruz, Oaxaca, Chiapas and Tabasco, with scattered rains in Baja California Sur, Jalisco, Sonora, Chihuahua, Durango, Puebla, Campeche, Yucatán and Quintana Roo.

In the Valley of Mexico, clear skies with fog are expected most of the day, very cold environment with morning frosts and north wind from 15 to 30 km / h. For Mexico City is estimated maximum temperature of 20 to 22 degrees Celsius and minimum of zero to 2 degrees Celsius and in the State of Mexico, maximum of 19 to 21 Celsius degrees and minimum of -3 to -5 degrees Celsius.

For the Peninsula of Baja California, cloudy skies and cold in the morning with a northwest wind from 15 to 30 km / h. Partly cloudy skies are expected in the North Pacific, very cold environment in the morning and variable direction wind from 15 to 30 km / h.

The Central Pacific will be partly cloudy with a cold environment with morning frosts and variable winds from 15 to 30 km / h.

For the South Pacific, a cloudy sky is forecast, very cold high areas during the morning and north wind with gusts exceeding 60 km / h in the Isthmus and the Gulf of Tehuantepec.

The forecast for the Gulf of Mexico is of a partially cloudy skies, very cold in the morning and north wins from 15 to 30 km / h with gusts greater than 50 km / h in the center and south of Veracruz.

Weather forecast for Cancun, Riviera Maya

For the Yucatan Peninsula, a partially cloudy sky is forecast, warm in the day with a north wind from 15 to 30 km / h. Quintana Roo will see a continuation of daily high temperatures of between 24C and 27C with a drop in nighttime temperatures to 15C. Light showers are forecast for the weekend of December 16, with daytime temperatures rebounding back to a seasonal 29C during the week of December 18.
