City of New York displays giant alebrijes from Oaxaca

New York, New York — From the city of New York, Mexican governor Alejandro Murat said that his administration has fulfilled its objective of bringing more of Oaxaca to the world.

During the month of Oaxaca in New York, Oaxaca governor Alejandro Murat presented two giant alebrijes made by artisans from the state. The cultural presentation was made in coordination with the help of Mexican ambassador Esteban Moctezuma.

“I am very grateful since Oaxaca has a purpose that we like to summarize in one sentence: we want more Oaxaca in the world and more of the world in Oaxaca,” said Murat.

“In Oaxaca, everything is done with the soul because in our land, the spirit dances, the spirit paints, the spirit cooks, the spirit writes,” he added from New York’s Rockefeller Center.

EB Kelly, general director of Rockefeller Center in New York , thanked Alejandro Murat and the Consulate General of Mexico in the United States for making the presence of the alebrijes possible, which he named “Monumental Guardians”.
