A partnership between Cirque du Soleil and Grupo Vidanta, a developer of world-class resorts known for fusing foods, fantasy and entertainment in lush destinations, has resulted in JOYÀ, a show in the Riviera Maya about the Riviera Maya; a story of an alchemist and his granddaughter, Joya, setting out on a quest to uncover the secrets of their Mayan life.
Premiering in early November in Cirque du Soleil style, the show has been billed as an intimate theatrical experience with its custom-designed theater right here in the Riviera Maya’s Grand Mayan. The 600-person theater was created with inspiration from the natural beauty of the local surrounding jungle along with the richness of the Mexican heritage and culture. To accommodate the extravagant show, the theater is fluid in form, integrating the natural environment into the experience.
The show’s theatrical prelude includes a premium dinner that will feature international foods and beverages. The combination of culinary and performing arts to such a degree is meant to engage all senses, leaving the audience with an overwhelming experience that only Cirque du Soleil can offer.
