Cancun, Q.R. — The tragic death of a child was reported at Playa Langosta in Cancun after attempts to save him from drowning failed.
An 11-year-old boy was swimming in waters at Playa Langosta in Cancun with siblings when the accident occurred. Emergency personnel were called to the beach at 7:10 p.m. after reports of a child drowning.
Paramedics arrived and performed CPR. He was transported to the Social Security clinic on Cobá Avenue where he died.
His grandfather, 59, explained that his grandson was swimming with two of his brothers in the sea at Playa Langosta when he suddenly noticed several people running toward the shore. It was at that moment he realized they had his grandson.
The child was pronounced moments after entering the medical facility.
