Cement truck explodes at Dos Bocas killing driver

Dos Bocas, Tabasco — One person was killed and two others seriously injured when a cement truck in the terminal of Dos Bocas, exploded.

According to Tabasco Civil Protection, the explosion happened at 12:36 p.m. while the trio were unloading cement for well foundations at the maritime terminal of Dos Bocas. A large cement truck carrying 40 m3 from the transport company Transportes Cárdenas, was connected to the ship Zapotitlán Tampico in order to unload cement for the well foundations.

Civil Protection says everything was fine until about 20 minutes into the unloading when a rumble began to erupt from the docks and the explosion occurred. They say preliminary reports point to a build up of compressed air likely caused by a covered exit point.

The driver of the truck lost his life during the explosion with two others involved in the cement unloading operation, injured.
