Cancun’s Puerto Juarez getting infrastructure update

Cancun, Q.R. — Infrastructure at the dock of Puerto Juarez in Cancun is in the process of upgrades says the port administration.

The General Director of the Integral Port Administration of Quintana Roo, Alicia Ricalde Magaña, says that the company will invest nearly 660,000 peso in the minor maintenance of the wooden docks of the Maritime Terminal of Puerto Juarez.

The state official explained that the maintenance has already begun and is expected to be finished for September 15. The maintenance is on behalf of Governor Carlos Joaquin to modernize the port infrastructure to provide better services.

Ricalde Magaña explained that the works consist of replacing the deck planks of the main walker of the terminal, which cover an area of 15 meters long by 5.8 meters wide.

“The wood that is used in the deck has the corresponding forest permits, while the wood that is removed will be reused in other jobs with less impact as a way to optimize resources,” she said.

The head of the port authority said that the dock at Puerto Juarez sees more than 155,000 passengers per year.
