Cancun, Q.R. – According to a recent Libro Verde (Green Paper) analysis, the value of housing in Cancun is some of the most expensive in the country.
The 6 percent increase in the price of housing throughout the region is the direct result of new developments, says Cancun’s real estate branch of AMPI. The analysis shows that the most expensive land in the state, and the fifth most expensive in the country, is listed in Cancun at 37,000 peso per square meter.
This particular area includes Puerto Cancun and the first two kilometers of the so-called hotel area. It is followed by the development of Lagos de Sol and Avenue Luis Donaldo Colosio where it averages 6,000 peso per square meter. However, central Cancun areas such as Malecón and Plaza Américas, Tajamar and Avenida Bonampak, average 6,500 peso per meter squared.
In Solidarity, Benito Juárez averages 2,200 peso per square meter.
State officials say that they expect investment opportunities to increase by 200 percent for 2020 with the demand for another 56,000 homes.
Libro Verde, which will be a reference guide to show the maximum and minimum prices of land and developments in the state, will be available in 2016.
