Cancun top choice for new swinger tourism niche

Cancun, Q.R. — A new holiday niche has put Cancun in the top five globally by those who look for erotic adult-only vacations in the swinger tourism niche.

While millions of tourists arrive to the region each year, a majority of which are families, there is a growing number arriving to participate in adult-only vacations.

According to Fabiola Fernandez communication consultant of the company Newlink Group, Mexico ranks fourth out of the top five places globally where couples come to participate in adult only events such as swinging.

Exchanging partners for sexual encounters, a taboo subject for many, is only one of the draws making adult-only hotels more and more popular. Although it is still a taboo subject for most, more and more specialized agencies are proliferating on this type of activity.

Fernández says that over the last decade, Mexico has opened its tourist doors to gain relevance in the swingers segment. Most of those who attend these types of tourist encounters are stable and well-off couples who enjoy first class facilities and services, where an atmosphere of freedom and respect predominates.

She adds that a majority of the tourists arriving to these places are between the ages of 35 to 50, but says that due to the longevity of lifespans, there are many older adults that also take part.

She says that Mexico ranks fourth in this new tourism niche with Japan leading the way leading the way in first. The adults-only vacation is also headed by Brazil (second) and Spain (third). Turkey takes fifth place in this specialty area.

She points out that Mexico has a few known adult only destinations, two of which include San José del Cabo in Baja California Sur and Cancún, Quintana Roo adding that last year, more than $60 million USD was invested into refurbishing a popular Cancun hotel to meet the demands of this increasing tourism niche.
