Cancun taxi drivers block hotel zone in protest of arrests

Cancun, Q.R. — Cancun taxi drivers took to blocking Hotel Zone access in protest of two of their members being arrested. On Monday evening, more than 40 taxis intentionally blocked access to the Cancun Hotel Zone after two Cancun taxi drivers were taken into police custody.

The Cancun taxi drivers were arrested at 6:30 p.m. around Kilometer 9 after police received a report of two armed people. The Andrés Quintana Roo union taxi drivers were protesting their arrests, calling the detainments illegal.

The road block lasted about three hours.
