Cancun students collecting two tons of clothing for those in need

Cancún, Q.R. — A group of Cancun students are trying to collect two tons of clothing for those in need.

Students of La Salle University in Cancun are collecting clothing for those in extreme poverty. The students are currently promoting Limpia tu clóset y comparte tu alacena (clean your closet and share your cupboard) campaign to help those in need.

This is the fourth year they have promoted the campaign. The campaign, which seeks the collection of clothing and food, is done through the Ciudad de la Alegría foundation.

During the first two campaigns, only clothing was collected, but due to the needs of the beneficiaries, they added share your cupboard, encouraging the community to donate food and basic consumer products.

Those who wish to clean out their closets and donate basic cupboard food can do so until November 20. They are collecting items such as tuna, oatmeal, sugar, cereal, beans, crackers, milk mayonnaise, toilet paper and sanitary napkins and need around 800 items.

The Ciudad de la Alegría foundation is taking items from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday to Friday until November 20. The delivery date of the collected items will be November 23.
