Cancun, Riviera Maya record lowest number of new infections in 3 months

Cancun, Riviera Maya, Q.R. — The state of Quintana Roo began the week with the lowest number of new C-19 infections in at least three months. In a 24-period, the state recorded only 29 new cases and three deaths, the lowest in at least 90 days.

The state epidemiological light, which is effective until August 23, remains orange in all municipalities with health officials pointing out that the rate of infections has decreased considerably, now standing at .8 in the north and 1.4 in the south.

The State Secretary of Health reported that all three deaths were recorded in Benito Juárez (Cancun) and that 10 of the 29 new infections were also in Cancun. The balance of new infections recorded were eight in Othón P. Blanco, five in Felipe Carrillo Puerto, three in Solidaridad (Playa del Carmen), two in José María Morelos and one in Isla Mujeres.

They also report that 607 cases remain under study. To date, Quintana Roo has recorded 9,326 positive cases and 1,224 deaths related to COVID-19.
