Cancun, Q.R. — A Red Cross medical facility was robbed of its cash over the weekend in Cancun when someone arrived with a fake stomach ache.
Police responded to the 911 call at 4:20 a.m. when an on-duty nurse reported the robbery. She said five men went to the Mexican Red Cross on Yaxchilán Avenue in the early morning hours of Saturday with one complaining of a stomach ache.
When the nurse opened the door to the reception area, she was threatened with a gun. All five men then entered the building and forced her to reveal the safe.
Police report that the robbers made off with the 30,000 peso from the safe along with another 2,700 from the cash drawer.
“They did not hit or hurt anyone, it was just the scare,” said one of the paramedics.
