Cancun, Q.R. — A man found shot to death in Cancun Monday morning has been identified as a Cancun prison guard.
The body of Jesus Alberto Alejandro Canula, a prison guard at the Center for Social Reintegration (Cereso), was found executed Monday morning when he left his shift. Reports say two subjects approached and shot him on 145th Street in region 99.
Nearby neighbors and workers of Ceresco reported hearing four gun shots before seeing a man fall to the ground. The shooting happened at 8:25 a.m. when Emergency 911 recorded the call. Paramedics arrived to tend to the victim, who they say, was already deceased.
The area was cordoned off by Public Security personnel. The deceased was identified by credentials he was carrying, and was later noted as being a guard at the Cancun prison.
Personnel of the State Attorney General’s Office took charge of the area to process the crime scene. Police recovered bullet casings that lay next to the body. Police say the deceased was shot four times.
