Cancun, Q.R. — Three on-duty policemen who were seen being photographed with two topless tourists will be disciplined, says the state.
On Monday, a photograph went viral of Cancun policemen taking photos with topless tourists at Playa Marlin in the Cancun Hotel Zone. The photograph, which was taken Sunday, drew hundreds of outraged comments and has since been taken down.
However, the three uniformed men have been summoned for an internal investigation. Monday evening, the Ministry of Public Security of Quintana Roo reported that the situation of three State Police agents has been declared a legal matter.
Through a communiqué, the government stated that an internal investigation was opened after they determined that the acts of the officers are contrary to the security functions entrusted to them. For this reason, they have been made available to the Legal Department.
They will initiate a procedure in the Council of Honor and Justice of the State Police to concentrate on the investigation and proceed according to the corresponding law.
