Cancun police thwart attempted land invasion

Cancun, Q.R. — An attempted land invasion was thwarted by Cancun police resulting in four men and one woman in their custody.

The arrests happened in SM 247 on Tules Avenue after patrolling police noticed the group clearing land and the first stages of makeshift palapa homes. When they approached the group, police say they were met with verbal insults and physical aggression as some members of the group threw sticks and rocks at them, damaging a police unit.

For that, five people were arrested. Taken into custody were Andrés N, 55, from Chihuahua, Juan Antonio N, 51, Denis N, 30, Noé N, 23 and Gabriela N 26, all originating from Tabasco.
