Cancun police capture fourth man wanted in Chiapas murder

Cancun, Q.R. — A man wanted for a 2018 murder in Chiapas has been arrested in Cancun. The detained male, identified as Kener Antonio N, is believed involved in the 2018 shooting death of a Chiapas journalist.

The FGE says that Kener was arrested on an outstanding arrest warrant for his alleged involvement in the September 2018 murder of Chiapas journalist Mario Leonel GĂ³mez SĂ¡nchez. Kener was picked up in Cancun Tuesday and transferred out of state, back to Chiapas where he will face criminal charges.

GĂ³mez SĂ¡nchez, who was a journalist with El Heraldo in YajalĂ³n, was murdered on September 21. Three others believed involved in the shooting death have already been detained.

The FGE said the capture of Kener was a joint effort by the the FGE of Chiapas and the General Prosecutor’s Office of the state of Quintana Roo.

Juan David N, Oscar Leyver N and Juan Pablo N are currently sitting in El Amate prison for their alleged involvement in the murder.
