Cancun pedestrian dies meters from bridge trying to beat oncoming motorcycle

Cancun, Q.R. — A Cancun pedestrian was killed Monday after being struck by a motorcycle. The accident was reported to emergency services by motorists Monday morning.

Witnesses reported seeing a man try to hurry across Luis Donaldo Colosio Boulevard in an attempt to beat on oncoming motorcycle, however, he was hit by the bike. Police and paramedics responded to the 8:46 a.m. call with medical personnel arriving only to confirm his death.

The deceased has been identified as 45-year-old Roberto N, a private security guard. The city of Cancun has a pedestrian bridge located a few meters from the accident site. The driver of the motorcycle, 31-year-old Eduardo N from the state of Yucatán, was detained at the scene. He was driving an unplated motorcycle.
