Cancun most expensive New Year’s destination in the world

Cancun, Q.R. – Cancun has topped the list as the most expensive destination in the world to spend New Years.

According to a survey by, sun destinations such as Cancun, Miami and Los Angeles are rated as being the most expensive, according to a new index. The online travel company’s top 10 list shows that the most expensive New Year’s destinations for ringing in 2016 are beach cities or traditional party towns such as New York. The survey specifically looked at 30 major destinations around the world and then established the rate for the cheapest available double room for each one.

Their survey found that holiday goers wanting to book a double room in Cancun between December 30 and January 2 will end up paying $311 USD for a 3-star hotel. Dubai was not far behind where the most affordable room during the same dates cost $302 USD, while rates in Miami for December 30 to January 2 were $286 USD.

At the other end of the spectrum, the least expensive place to ring in 2016 was Buenos Aries where travelers can book a hotel room for a little as $38 US per night followed by Shanghai ($39 USD) and Bogota, Colombia for $42 US per night.
