Cancun mayor presenting project for overpasses to help with traffic

Cancun, Q.R. — The new administration of Benito Juárez is preparing a federal request to construct overpass bridges in Cancun.

María Elena Hermelinda Lezama Espinosa, municipal president of Benito Juárez, says that the administration is preparing a request for federal resources for the construction of overpasses on Rodrigo Gómez Avenue and Kilometer Zero of Cancún, which if granted, will speed up mobility on both roads.

“I have had meetings with the federal deputies for Quintana Roo to attend to matters related to federal resources for the benefit of the municipality,” said Cancun’s mayor María Elena Hermelinda Lezama Espinosa.

The overpasses will be similar to the existing bridges at Boulevard Luis Donaldo Colosio, and according to the mayor, will help with traffic flow along those areas. For now, the proposal will be presented to the Chamber of Deputies to obtain the resources.

City officials are currently adding the final touches before presenting their request which includes a feasibility study at Bonampak, Kukulcán and Coba avenues as well as along Rodrigo Gómez (Kabah) with José López Portillo.
