Cancun, Q.R. — The Cancun International Airport remains the most busy in the country with the arrival of international tourists. Miguel Torruco Marqués, the Secretary of Tourism of the Government of Mexico, reports of the 10.2 million international travelers into Mexico so far this year, more than 4.8 million of them did so at Cancun International.
He says that from January to June 2022, Mexico has welcomed 10,266,000 international travelers by air, an 83 percent increase over the same period last year. Approximately 7.9 million of those international tourists arrived from the U.S., Canada and Colombia, he reported.
The head of the Ministry of Tourism also pointed out that the figure of 10.2 exceeds the 10,117,000 arrivals of the first semester of 2019 by 1.5 percent.
While Cancun International remains the most busy, the AICM of Mexico City and Los Cabos International were the second and third busiest airports in the country.
Torruco Marqués added that the arrival of American travelers already this year is up by more than 50 percent over last year with 6,660,000, followed by 859,580 Canadians and 412,000 Colombians.
