Cancun, Q.R. — The National Fund for Tourism Promotion (Fonatur) says they will start the rehabilitation and maintenance of Cancun’s Boulevard Kukulcán beginning Saturday.
With an investment of 27 million peso, the rehabilitation of the asphalt in the hotel zone will begin Saturday night and likely last until November, they say, adding that the work will be suspended during rainfalls.
Due to high traffic, Kukulcán Boulevard was already in need of repair, however, the situation was made worse after the recent heavy rains.
Fonatur says the work along Boulevard Kukulcán will consist of the removal and then repaving of 4.8 kilometers of the highly used roadway. They say that the work will be done during the nighttime hours to help avoid traffic issues during the day.
The weather-dependent work is scheduled to begin June 23 and last until November.
