Cancun hosts the Malibu Boats Pro competition the weekend of April 25 to 26 at Puerto Cancun.
The first round of the Malibu Evolution Pro Series will be in full swing on Saturday, April 25. The fierce wakeboard competition was lead in the first round by the WWW Walkboard World Series behind the Malibu Boats Wakesetter 22 MXZ.
Finalists for the Pro Men’s quarter finals saw Rusty Malinoski, Josh Twelker, and Tony Carroll lead the stacked field into the semifinal round. Each man taking a win in their quarter final heat.
For the Pro Woman round set for Sunday, Nicola Butler, Raimi Merritt, and Taylor McCullough took the top ranks.
Riders fought for their spot in the windy waters of Cancun of the final round of the Malibu Cancun Pro. The “wake-creation” set the stage for the top sic Wakeboard World Series riders for Sunday’s semi-final round. Another six Pro Men will join them for the 15-man round on Sunday.
Leading the wake from the Malibu Wakesetter 22 MXZ was Twekler, who finished with a 89.0 score, however, advancing behind was Steel Lafferty, Malinoski, Carroll, Damian Adam and Massi Piffaretti.
Final round for the Pro Woman were the top two riders who advanced through Saturday’s semi-finals. McCullough led the way with a stand-up run in the windy waters followed by Merritt, Butler, Dallas Friday, Larisa Morales and Tarah Mikacich.
Mexico’s Morales made it to the final round in front of local media and fans that were in attendance.
