Cancun FedEx delivery man killed, driver flees scene

Cancun, Q.R. — A messenger from Fedex was killed in Cancun Friday after being hit by a van on Boulevard Colosio. The person responsible fled the vehicle, leaving his unit behind.

The courier worker was run over at the roundabout on Colosio Boulevard with Avenida Contoy, a short distance from the Experiencias Xcaret building.

The deceased was identified as Gabriel Ángel V. R., a native Cancun resident. According to witnesses, the 26-year-old was apparently circulating on Pioneros Avenue on his motorcycle, but when crossing the Luis Donaldo Colosio Boulevard with the green light, a van hit the man after not respecting the right of way.

Paramedics arrived at the site, but could not do anything for him.

The person responsible for hitting the man left the scene, leaving his van abandoned a few meters away from the accident.

The unit was transferred to the corralón of the Public Safety and Traffic Secretariat (SSPyT) by the PECAS crane company.
