Cancun, Q.R. — Over the weekend, a man was shot and killed while sitting inside his home in Cancun.
A call to Emergency 911 was recorded at 7:43 a.m. Saturday when neighbors reported hearing gun shots. Police arrived at the home in Region 99 of Cancun where they found a deceased man.
Police say 39-year-old Irineo N, a bricklayer from Tepakan, Yucatan, was shot while sitting inside his home. According to the preliminary report of the State Attorney General’s Office, Irineo was hit several times by gunfire. Bullet holes were also found on the facade of the house.
During their investigation at the scene, police say they found seven casings, all of which were lifted.
The body of the man was identified by his sister. Local residents said that the man was allegedly involved with organized crime through the sale and distribution of narcotics.
This is the second death in less than two weeks in the same area.
