Cancun bar raids end with five arrested

Cancún, Q.R. — An operation of bar raids in Cancun has resulted in the arrest of five people after police visit several nightclubs.

As part of an operation, police visited several nightclubs in central Cancun that included Cervecería Chapultepec on Cancún Avenue, Las Torres, 666 bar on Yaxchilán Avenue, Plaza de Toros, Crucero bars on Avenida Lopez Portillo and Tulum, the Guanatos brewery of La Luna Avenue and La Hija de Cuauhtémoc among others.

The operation was conducted by police members from the Policía Ministerial, Policía Federal, Ejército Mexicano, Marina Armada de México, the Seguridad Pública del Estado as well as INM — el Instituto Nacional de Migración.

By the time the night operation was over, a total of five people were taken into custody. Police report one male was arrested for possession of cocaine and marijuana, while a second male in a different nightclub was arrested for possession and marketing of cocaine.

Three others were taken into custody for obstruction of justice after they refused to cooperate with the operation and are reported to have become violent and insulting. The three were arrested from two different establishments.

The operation was conducted due to citizen complaints.
