Canadian boxer arrested in Playa del Carmen on allegations of attempted femicide

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A man from Canada remains in Playa del Carmen jail after allegations of attempted femicide. On Tuesday night, police were called to the scene along 8th Street in central Playa del Carmen.

When they arrived, they located a man who was being held by a group of others outside a bar. The group said the man had physically assaulted two women inside. The assault allegedly arose from an altercation that left two women, also Canadian, with severe injuries.

The man, a 27-year-old boxer named Peter N from Canada, reportedly hit one woman in the head and another in the face. Both were severely injured. They filed an official complaint against the now-accused, which lead to the issuance of an arrest warrant for attempted femicide.

In a briefing, local authorities said “FGE Quintana Roo completes the arrest warrant for Peter “N”, a professional boxer of foreign origin, for his probable participation in the crime of attempted femicide to the detriment of two victims of private identity, also foreign.

“The aggressor was arrested near a bar in the municipality of Solidaridad and will be presented before the judge who requires him.”
