Burned Cozumel government vehicle being investigated as possible third of intentionally set fires

Cozumel, Q.R. — Early Sunday, a government vehicle was found burning in front of a Cozumel home. The Imoveqroo car was reported on fire shortly after 2:00 a.m. on South Street.

Cozumel firemen where able to put it out, but not save it. The car was completely destroyed in the fire, which is believed to have been intentionally set. The car was parked at the home of a government official when it caught fire.

After Fire Chief Jorge Arjona determined the car was a total loss, Municipal Police had it towed to city facilities for an inspection since arson is suspected.

It is the third fire in as many days thought to possibly be arson. On Saturday morning, two catamarans were found ablaze in Puerto Aventuras. On Sunday morning, two public transport units were found on fire in Cancun. Police have been investigating the possibility of arson in all three fires.
