Body of woman found in Cancun wooded area

Cancun, Q.R. — The body of a woman was discovered over the weekend in a wooded area on the outskirts of Cancun.

The grisly discovery was made by nearby residents of the irregular El Pedregal colony at 4:40 p.m. Saturday. Upon discovery of the body, authorities were called who verified the body was that of a female. They say that she had been there for a few days before being found.

Her body was taken to the medical services for an autopsy and later identified as 29-year-old Ángela Jazmín N from the state of Yucatán. The young woman was reported as missing last Monday by her family.

The case attracted the attention of the Special Prosecutor’s Office for Crimes Against Women, however, there was no cause of death released. The State Attorney General’s Office opened an investigation for the crime of feminicide.
