Cancun, Q.R. — UPDATED: The body of a male person was spotted floating in the Nichupte lagoon Friday evening by a group playing golf who say crocodiles were feeding on the body.
A group enjoying an evening of golf reported the sighting of a body floating in the lagoon at Kilometer 17.5 of the Cancun Hotel Zone at 6:10 p.m. The report of the body was made to emergency 911 personnel by golf course security.
Emergency officials sent police to Kukulkan Boulevard where they say, they found the body floating in the lagoon.
The male was found in the Nichupte lagoon around the 18th hole of the course, where they say golfers witnessed a crocodile feeding on the body. Reports say that when police arrived, the body was without limbs.
Police removed the body and transferred it to the forensic medical facilities for an autopsy.
UPDATE: The body of a man found floating in the Nichupte lagoon in the Cancun Hotel Zone Friday has been identified as 44-year-old J.C.L.C, a Mexican national. Family members identified the body after filing a missing person’s report the day before.
The victim’s brother made the positive I.D. According to the coroner’s report, the man died from drowning. The limbs of the body were missing from lagoon crocodiles.
