Cancun, Q.R. — The body of a Cancun official reported missing late last week has been found.
The body of Miguel Ángel Loo Calvo was discovered Saturday after being reported missing three days earlier. Police found his body inside a gray van on Laguna Verde Street in Cancun.
Since the discovery, the State Attorney General’s Office has issued a statement ruling out any act of violence, noting there were no knife or gun shot wounds to the victim. The coroner report says the time of death was 3:00 a.m. on May 31, one day after he was reported missing.
Miguel Ángel Loo Calvo was the Director of Rural Development in the municipality of Benito Juárez and lived in Playa del Carmen. His family listed him as missing May 30.
He was a representative of the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) before the National Electoral Institute in District 4 of Quintana Roo.
Police say they will continue to investigate the cause into his death.
