Bodies of two missing Cancun cyclists found

Cancun, Q.R. — The bodies of the two cyclists reported missing earlier this month from Cancun have been found.

A passerby made the call to Emergency 911 Sunday morning after coming across the remains of two people in a well. The bodies were found in Kusamil subdivision in SM 112. Due to their location, the fire department was called in to assist with the removal of the bodies so forensic specialists could transfer them to medical facilities.

A positive identification was made by their families, indicating that they were the remains of missing cyclists José Vicente Pérez Vázquez and Rosendo Ibáñez López. For nearly three weeks, elements of the Ministerial Police, experts, the National Guard, Firefighters and Civil Protection, supported by canines and technology searched, but were unable to locate the men.

The pair were reported missing August 3 from Cancun when they set out for a day of extreme biking through jungle trails.
