Bobbi Kristina Brown passes away at 22

The only child of the late Whitney Houston, died on Sunday. Bobbi Kristina Brown passed away nearly six months after being found unresponsive in a bathtub. Her superstar mother was also found unresponsive in a bathtub in 2012, the cause of death was ruled an accidental drowning. Brown was 22.

In a public statement by the Houston family, they said, “Bobbi Kristina Brown passed away July 26, 2015, surrounded by her family. She is finally at peace in the arms of God. We want to again thank everyone for their tremendous amount of love and support during these last few months.”

Her father, R&B singer Bobby Brown, divorced her mother when she was 14. After the divorce, Brown and her family starred in reality tv series, The Houstons: On Our Own and Being Bobbi Brown. In January 2014, Brown claimed to have wed Nick Gordon, a boy raised by Houston but never formally adopted. Brown referred to Gordon as her husband even though, according to Brown’s father, the pair never legally wed.

After her mother’s death, Brown said she was going to follow in her mother’s footsteps by carrying on the singing legacy. She told Oprah in an interview, “I have to carry on the legacy,” she said. “We’re going to do the singing thing– some acting, some dancing.”

Gordon and a friend found Bobbi Brown in a bathtub on January 31 of this year. He attempted to revive her. She was taken to hospital where she remained in a coma. The family often made headlines about their disagreements on her care.

The late Whitney Houston left her estate to her daughter which was reported to be worth around $100 million.
