The family of Bobbi Kristina Brown has said the 22-year old has been moved to hospice care. The only child of late singer, Whitney Houston, Brown’s condition continues to deteriorate after she was found unresponsive in a bathtub five months ago.
A statement issued by the Houston family on Wednesday said that despite great medical care “Bobbi Kristina Brown’s condition has continued to deteriorate. As of today, she has been moved into hospice care… She is in God’s hands now.”
Brown was placed in a medically induced coma where she was later diagnosed with irreversible brain damage. She was found face down in a bathtub in her suburban Atlanta home on January 31 by her then boyfriend Nick Gordon and a friend. The incident shared similarities with the death of her mother in 2012.
Brown’s boyfriend at the time, Nick Gordon, has since been hit with a lawsuit alleging physical abuse and theft from her bank account. In a $10 million lawsuit filed against him, Gordon has been accused of causing her life-threatening injuries as well as stealing $11,000 from her bank account while she was in a coma.
The lawsuit claims that on January 31, Bobbi Kristina had a loud argument with Gordon. After the argument, Brown was found “unresponsive and unconscious, face down in a bathtub, with her mouth swollen and another tooth knocked out.” The suit went on to say that “Brown has suffered life-threatening bodily harm” as a direct result of Gordon’s conduct.
“Even after Brown’s hospitalization, and while she was in a coma, (Gordon) accessed Brown’s bank account and stole in excess of $11,000,” the lawsuit added.
Gordon, who was raised by Whitney Houston as an informally adopted son, began dating Brown. After Houtson’s death, the two referred to one another as husband and wife, although they were never legally married.
There have been no criminal charges in the case. Gordon’s attorney, Randall Kessler, had no comment on the lawsuit.
