Mexico City, Mexico — On Monday afternoon, the formal transition of the current federal government will begin in what will be, the new administration.
The formalities that will see the start of the transition is expected to take place today with a meeting headed by President Enrique Peña Nieto, President-elect Andrés Manuel López Obrador and the cabinets of both parties.
“It is the formal beginning of the transition process,” said López Obrador. Alfonso Romo, next secretary of the Office of the Presidency, spoke about the meeting.
“President Peña is going to be in his office while his lawyer formally presents and starts the reception process. With that, each secretary will be able to see every detail of each secretariat, and with that information, know what we are planning with more evidence and refining of the numbers,” explained Alfonso Romo.
The meeting will begin today at 1:00 p.m. at the National Palace in Mexico City. The new administration will take effect December 1.
