Beach improvement project for Tulum to include artificial reefs

Tulum, Q.R. — A beach project that has been presented to the state government for areas of Tulum is being open to the public for consultation.

The improvement and stabilization project for area beaches was submitted to the federal government in July. Now, the Manifestation of Environmental Impact (MIA) will be available to the public for comment until October 5.

The project Improvement and stabilization of the beach and marine areas of the Bays of Chemuyil and Chemuyilito, is by the company Promotora ECOTUR, SA de CV that would see everything from artificial reefs to the addition of sand in specific areas of the municipality.

The improvement and stabilization project consists of the construction of five artificial reefs, one artificial dune and the addition of sand in two beach areas that would add more than 16,000 square meters added. The project also has other considerations and possible construction projects meant to stabilize the condition of the bays.
