Authorities sweep Isla Mujeres beach and dismantle illegal establishments

Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — More spaces deemed illegal were dismantled and completely removed from the Isla Mujeres mainland beach area of Costa Mujeres. On Sunday, both military and state authorities participated in the operation that saw three establishments shut down and removed.

Authorities continue to crack down on illegal activities being carried out across state beaches, which often start with the setting up of an establishment without permits. According to information provided by the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE), the Sunday operation was carried out through the State Coordination for the Construction of Peace and Security in Quintana Roo.

The cooperation is made up of elements from National Defense (Sedena), the Navy, National Guard, the Attorney General’s Office (FGE) and the Secretary of Public Security of Quintana Roo who have been making routine sweeps as part of their ongoing Playa Segura (Safe Beach) operation.

According to the report that was provided, the operation was carried out with the objective of recovering public spaces that are occupied in an irregular or illegal manner.
