Authorities discover 82 kilos of cocaine in shipping container

Lázaro Cárdenas, Michoacán — The Secretariat of the Navy of Mexico, in coordination with the Ministry of National Defense and Customs, reports the assurance of 82 kilos of cocaine hydrochloride in Lázaro Cárdenas, Michoacán.

La Secretaría de Marina – Armada de México reports that derived from joint work with the Secretariat of National Defense and Customs of Lázaro Cárdenas, Michoacán, a shipment with approximately 82 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride was secured in the Port of Lázaro Cárdenas, Michoacán.

This action was carried out from intelligence information provided by the Ministry of National Defense and evaluated by the Naval Intelligence Unit, where it was learned that a container with illicit cargo was transported aboard the ship CMA CGM Mississippi.

The container in question, according to the cargo manifest, was marked as rolls of electric cable, however, upon opening of the container, two packages wrapped in black bags were observed on the wire roll, as well as locks.

A continued inspection led authorities to the discovery of the 70 packages with an approximate weight of 82 kilos of cocaine.
