Riviera Maya, Q.R. — Federal officials have approved the permits needed for the construction of a new water park in Riviera Maya.
Suut Há Water Park by Experiencias Xcaret will be the latest addition to the privately-owned company’s group of themed parks and hotels in the region.
The Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources approved the environmental impact statement submitted by the company in March. Their plan for the new water park details a 40-meter high slide, canals, swimming pools and green areas over a two-hectare area.
According to the plan, the new attraction will be constructed in Riviera Maya near Xplor park with an investment of around one billion peso and the creation of 186 direct jobs.
In February, Xcaret was awarded, for the third year in a row, the Best Water Park and Best International Theme Park by American travel companies.
